Organic, eclectic spontaneity for sophisticated clients and their gala or intimate gatherings.....
As a teenager on the East Coast, Judy Chamberlain fronted a big band and hung out in the kitchens of the best restaurants in New York. Later, as the owner of a boutique headhunting firm in Darien, Connecticut, her “Ask Henrietta” column in the local newspaper differentiated the company’s services from those of the competition. Moving to New Orleans in the late 1970’s, Chamberlain learned that there was more to the world of fine dining than the Stork Club, After relocating to Los Angeles with her husband and two small children in 1980, she put all of her early careers together and became a prolific restaurant critic, newspaper columnist and on-air radio and t.v. personality. These days, the accomplished singer, bandleader, music historian, hospitality industry consultant and event producer provides high-level entertainment to discerning private and corporate clients, jazz festivals and venues. Her communication skills — and knowledge — honed over many years of entertaining, as well as writing and broadcasting about lifestyles, entertainment, travel and the food and beverage industry, are a distinct advantage. Not only does Chamberlain know how to construct, create and actualize her clients’ needs, goals and dreams behind the scenes, she’s also an extremely talented communicator onstage. The Los Angeles Times enthused, “Chamberlain’s easygoing interaction with her listeners transforms celebrations into marvelously spontaneous events,” while the Orange County Register proclaimed, “heavenly voiced singer Judy Chamberlain possesses an encyclopedic knowledge of American popular music” and KKJZ Los Angeles’ Chuck Niles called her “a walking encyclopedia of the Great American Songbook.” With a repertoire that numbers more than 4,000 songs and spans all the decades of American music, on-the-spot requests are child’s play for Judy. But she does admit to being thrown for a loop when Paul Anka wanted to know if she ever sang his classic, “My Way.” She offered him her “usual” response — “Do I look like Paul Anka... or Frank Sinatra?” Anka promptly re-wrote the lyrics for her.
